Hey all!
First off, thanks for your patience with opening BackerKit. We are still working out some numbers with shipping regarding using a UK fulfillment center for EU shipping and how Brexit is affecting those numbers. Spiral Galaxy (our UK/EU fulfillment center) is close to getting us those estimations, but we aren't there quite yet.
We are still currently on track for a January 2021 delivery date, but it may end up being that we only have the pledge manager open for about a month or so. We are currently working on manufacturing, and hope to have some samples to show off in the upcoming months.
In other Lay Waste Games news, we are sad to announce that our Director of Operations, Jon, has resigned from his role at Lay Waste Games to pursue other opportunities. Jon has been an asset to the foundation of this company. We thank him for the work he has put in, and wish him luck on his future endeavors. However, we are happy to say that our Community Manager and recently made Partner, Alyssa, will be taking over his title and responsibilities including overseeing the fulfillment of the Might and Magma campaign. Rest assured we’ve been focused on integrating and transitioning roles and responsibilities from Jon to Alyssa to ensure you’ll get the best game possible from Lay Waste. This attention to detail during this transition has been a priority, and has temporarily increased our response time to your questions and comments.
We are very excited to see this campaign come to life, and what new opportunities this change will bring!

We had hoped you would have your surveys by now, but there are a few things outside of our control preventing us from sending them out.
COVID SHIPPING INCREASES
A number of fulfillment locations have actually increased their prices recently due to the strain on shipping channels. This is true for boats from China and in-country shipping. We could take a guess at where shipping rates will be when Might and Magma is ready, and hope we are correct, but we risk being wrong and needing incur significant unknown costs to get games out the door. For this, we want to remain optimistic that prices won't remain high/unknown and not make assumptions.
BREXIT UNKNOWNS
For our friends and backers in the UK and EU, another wrinkle has been added. Our fulfillment partner for the UK and EU is based in the UK. This means that packages sent out of the UK to EU are subject to fees once new laws are put in place, which no one knows when that will be. The same would be true for packages going into the UK if we had a shipping partner in the EU. This would mean some folks could get hit with fees that we promised we would cover. Confusing, right? YES! However, with this issue as well, we will remain optimistic and not make any assumptions.
Might and Magma is not our first game, so we are very familiar with handling weird situations. You have our word that we are doing everything possible to both push the game forward while being mindful of the risks at hand. This will simply mean a delayed pledge manager that is closer to the delivery date until we sort out a precise and reliable plan.

BackerKit Survey Status

Hello dragons,
TLDR: We are checking numbers. Surveys will be out later this month or early next.
As you know, things are a bit out of the ordinary in the world right now. You don't need us to say more. However, regarding Might and Magma, we are focused on one thing. Costs. In particular, with manufacturing and shipping.
With the delays and world events, our manufacturing and shipping costs should not be changing. Nonetheless, we are circling back with our providers to confirm that assumption. Rather than rush out the surveys, we are taking some extra time to be 100% certain of our numbers before sending links to BackerKit.
What does this mean for you? Not much beyond waiting a bit longer for surveys. Art and Graphic Design is still progressing. The Gameplay feels killer. Estimated shipment dates are still accurate.
In the meantime, what can you do?! You can play some games on Tabletop Simulator. There are loads up there and we have two.

Real Gold...ON THE MAP!?

Hello dragons!
We are putting real 24k gold on the new Liquid Gold Map!!!
There are only a few hours left, but this is not a joke. It's March so no chance of April Fool's. Here is an image that the brilliant Ross Cowman took yesterday during his mad scientist testing.
Ross will be mixing 24k gold powder into the ink used for the gold sections on the map. We are still working out what color mixture is ideal, and will report back to you all once we know more. But for now, just know you're getting real gold on your Liquid Gold map!!!
Also, Nick Nazzaro finished the map and it is gorgeousssssssss.
